Series Overview
Samsung MCP (Multi-Chip Package) LPDDR2 series integrates multiple memory chips in a single BGA package using horizontal or stacked placement. Each package typically combines one NAND Flash chip with one low-power DRAM or Mobile RAM, enhancing communication between NAND and DRAM and improving overall chip performance. Compared with two separate TSOP chips, MCP saves up to 70% of PCB space and reduces average board area by 30%-40%, simplifying manufacturing, lowering costs, and accelerating product development and time-to-market.
This series provides flexible MCP configurations, combining different capacities of SLC NAND Flash and MDDR2 to meet diverse application requirements. Example configurations include NAND 512MB + MDDR2 256MB and NAND 512MB + MDDR2 512MB. MDDR2 (also known as LPDDR2) supports data transfer speeds up to 1066 MB/s. Due to its smaller storage capacities, this series is mainly applied in entry-level mobile devices such as low-end smartphones.
